Makes the most of quality control data

ATLAS SilviQC enables the forest manager to store and analyse data from quality control assessments for a wide range of forest operations.

SilviQC has modules to support quality control of:

  • site preparation - spot mounding & line rip and mound
  • planting
  • pruning
  • waste thinning
  • production thinning

In addition to QC assessments, ATLAS SilviQC can be used to support heighting/block check pre-operation assessments.

Benefit

Feature

Flexible data-entry method

Data can be directly entered, entered from Excel spreadsheets, or downloaded from ATLAS FieldMan.

Assessment customised to business requirements

Users can define and record any numeric tree measurement or plot classification required. The data can be exported for analysis in external systems such as Excel.

Data stored in a secure, robust, and structured storage mechanism

SilviQC uses a relational database such as SQL Server or Microsoft Access to store all relevant information.

Straight forward analysis of standard Quality Control assessment information.

SilviQC provides statistical reports that summarise tree level information at both plot and assessment level.

·     Each SilviQC modules has its own set of tailored reports

·     Raw measurements plus plot and QC-level  statistics can be exported for further analysis in external systems such as Excel.

Single application to assess a wide-range of forest operations

Six modules are available and while they have been customised for each forest operation the ‘Look-and-feel’ between modules is the same.

 Data

Customising an assessment to meet specific business needs includes adding any number of variables at the tree level and classifications at the plot level.

Data can be recorded on paper or entered into handheld computers depending on field conditions and user preferences. For this reason, a range of data entry methods are available including direct data entry, or importing from Microsoft Excel® or ATLAS FieldMan.  All assessment data imported into ATLAS SilviQC is maintained in a centralised database.

 Reports

SilviQC standard reports are tailored to each type of assessment to provide in an in-depth analysis of how well the standards have been met for each operation type. The reports provide easy-to-follow standard statistics with graphical representations of the data where appropriate. The forest manager can obtain statistical reports at both plot and QC level.

 Analysis

Data incorporated in the SilviQC database can be accessed directly through ATLAS SilviQC or via ATLAS GeoMaster thereby ensuring the information is readily available for any planning purposes. If the forest manager needs to work directly with the figures from the reports then the statistics can be exported as comma separated value (CSV) files for use in other applications such as spreadsheets. Similarly, export of non-standard variables allows the forest manager to produce their own reports for these variables.

Integration

All summarised QC results can be recorded as GeoMaster assessments ensuring they are available for any planning purposes. If the forest manager has access to ATLAS GeoMaster then it is possible to use SilviQC to query and edit the stand record data.

ATLAS SilviQC integration with the ATLAS suite of Forest Management Tools

Integration between ATLAS modules enables information from one application to be accessed or presented within another which greatly increases the power of each individual module, and the suite as a whole. For example, SilviQC can create a template and Assessment Planner can generate a plot-map for FieldMan data collection. Once data collection is complete, SilviQC can be used to examine the plot data and store summaries in GeoMaster.  The raw tree level information can also be accessed directly from GeoMaster. The associated operation in GeoMaster can be edited from SilviQC.

Use SilviQC to manage quality control of silvicultural operations; add in these other ATLAS modules to efficiently and effectively undertake a wide range of tasks.

  • Use GeoMaster to manage information about forest area, crops and operations.
  • Use Document Manager to access documents relevant to specific forest locations.
  • Use Assessment Planner to generate plot location maps for assessments.
  • Use GeoMapper to define and generate standard maps
  • Use FieldMan to manage a complex field measurement programmes.
  • Use Cruiser to forecast yields using forest inventory assessments.
  • Use Yield Table Manager to manage yield tables for many users.
  • Use Harvest Manager to design and track harvest operations and to summarise yields.
  • Use PSP to collect permanent sample plot data
  • Use Forecaster to simulate stand growth and quality for forest planning, silvicultural scheduling and regime analysis
